Job Summary:
We are looking for a strategic and experienced Master Data Management (MDM) People Manager to lead our team in driving high-quality, consistent, and well-governed master data across the organization. This role is responsible for overseeing the creation, maintenance, and governance of master data, ensuring high-quality, consistent, and reliable data across systems and business units. This role emphasizes team leadership, cross-functional collaboration, process improvement, and the implementation of data governance best practices—without requiring deep technical expertise.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in people management, business operations, and stakeholder engagement, and understands the value of clean, reliable master data in supporting business goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data encoders and analysts responsible for maintaining master data across core business domains (e.g. product, supplier, location, customer).
- Collaborate with business leaders and process owners to define data requirements, standards, data definitions, business rules and policies.
- Serve as a liaison between business functions and technical teams to ensure alignment of data needs and governance.
- Promote accountability for data quality and consistency across the organization.
- Define and enforce master data governance processes, standards, and policies.
- Oversee data domains such as product, supplier, location, and customer master data.
- Monitor and improve data quality through audits, dashboards, and KPIs.
- Support issue resolution related to master data inconsistencies, duplicates, or gaps.
- Implement and maintain MDM tools and platforms (e.g., Stibo, Shopify, Oracle, etc.)
- Manage metadata, lineage, and master data lifecycle management processes.
- Develop and deliver training and support on MDM processes and tools to stakeholders.
- Work with IT and Data & Analytics teams to integrate MDM solutions with enterprise systems.
- Oversee day-to-day operational activities related to data entry, approval workflows, and change management processes.
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation in master data practices.
- Report on team performance, SLA adherence, and data quality metrics.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- 4+ years of experience in data management, operations, or a related business function.
- 3+ years in a leadership or people management role.
- Strong experience with MDM technologies and data governance frameworks.
- Solid understanding of data architecture, data integration, and metadata management.
- Experience working in cross-functional and cross-regional teams.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Good-to-Have Qualifications:
- Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., iPaaS).
- Data management certifications
- Experience in Agile or hybrid delivery environments.
- Industry-specific knowledge (e.g., finance, manufacturing, retail).
