Job Summary:
The Mechanic Helper assists mechanics in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of trucks and other company vehicles. The role supports fleet operations by ensuring vehicles are serviced properly, parts and tools are prepared, and work areas are organized. This position is essential in maintaining safe, roadworthy units to support the logistics company’s daily operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist mechanics in performing preventive maintenance and repair work on trucks, trailers, and other company vehicles.
- Prepare and organize tools, parts, and materials required for repair and maintenance tasks.
- Conduct basic tasks such as checking fluid levels, replacing filters, changing oil, rotating tires, and greasing components.
- Help diagnose mechanical issues under the supervision of a mechanic.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the workshop and service area.
- Ensure proper disposal of waste materials (oil, filters, parts, etc.) in compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Perform basic record-keeping such as logging work completed, parts used, or mileage when required.
- Follow company safety rules and assist in implementing workshop safety standards.
- Support the fleet team in emergency roadside assistance when necessary.
Qualifications:
- High school graduate or equivalent; vocational or technical training in automotive servicing is an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of truck/vehicle parts, tools, and maintenance procedures.
- Willingness to learn and work under supervision.
- Physically fit and able to handle manual work.
- Strong attention to detail and safety-conscious.
- Preferably with prior experience in a workshop, garage, or logistics company (but not required).
