About the Role:
Davao Doctors Hospital is looking for a compassionate and driven Medical Social Worker to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide professional social work services to patients and their families, addressing their psychosocial needs while supporting their recovery, treatment, and discharge plans. This role is vital in promoting patient well-being through counseling, resource linkage, crisis intervention, and advocacy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct psychosocial assessments for patients and families
- Provide counseling and emotional support to patients coping with illness, trauma, or life changes
- Facilitate referrals to community resources, government assistance programs, and support services
- Assist in discharge planning and continuity of care
- Coordinate with the healthcare team to address patients' holistic needs
- Participate in case conferences and interdisciplinary rounds
- Handle cases involving vulnerable patients such as victims of abuse, the elderly, and financially disadvantaged individuals
- Conduct home visits when necessary
- Document patient interactions, assessments, and case progress accurately and confidentially
- Participate in outreach programs and hospital social welfare initiatives
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work (BS Social Work)
- Must be a Registered Social Worker (RSW) in the Philippines
- Preferably with at least 1 year of hospital or clinical experience, but fresh board passers are also welcome to apply
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Empathetic, patient-centered, and organized
- Knowledge of local and national welfare programs, NGOs, and community resources
Preferred Attributes:
- Experience working in a hospital or healthcare setting
- Familiarity with DOH, DSWD, and PhilHealth social case management procedures
- Ability to manage multiple cases and work in a multidisciplinary team
- Flexible, proactive, and passionate about patient advocacy
