Job description
- Examine jewelry to determine the type, quality, and characteristics of gems used.
- Determine the value of the jewelry based on factors like material, quality, design, and market trends.
- Prepare and deliver appraisal reports to clients.
- Stay updated on market trends and fluctuations to provide accurate appraisals.
- Provide consultation services to clients regarding selling, auctioning, or insuring their jewelry.
- Collaborate closely with other appraisers or jewelry experts for more complex assessments.
- Assist with in-store customer service, as needed.
Integrity and honesty, as appraisers often handle valuable items and are trusted to provide fair and unbiased assessments
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Jewelry Appraiser or similar role.
- Detailed knowledge of precious stones, metals, and antique jewelry.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and make informed decisions.
- Strong attention to detail and good observation skills.
- Certification from a recognized appraisal organization is a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
