About The Role
The Payroll and Benefits Team Lead is responsible for supervising and coordinating payroll processing, employee benefits, and wellness. Areas of focus include performance, engagement, remuneration, benefits, and supporting leaders in planning and implementing change initiatives.
The role will be assigned the following responsibilities:
Payroll
- Supervise and manage the payroll team, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient and accurate payroll processing.
- Review and verify all payroll inputs, including timesheets, salary adjustments, and benefits deductions, to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Process payroll on a regular schedule, ensuring all employees are paid accurately and on time.
- Assist with payroll audits, both internal and external, providing necessary documentation and information as required.
- Manage tax annualization processes and ensure accurate and timely submission of BIR requirements, including BIR Form 2316 and the alphabetical listing.
- Stay current on changes to payroll laws and regulations, ensuring compliance with all government requirements.
Employee Benefits
- Monitor and track the administration of HMO and Group Life Insurance contracts.
- Oversee and monitor the employee welfare budget to ensure cost-efficiency and proper allocation
- Drive process enhancements and develop policies and procedures related to employee benefit programs
- Review and approve statutory benefits submissions, such as SSS Maternity and SSS Sickness claims, as well as monthly government remittances.
Leadership
- Oversee ongoing process enhancements and policy revisions to ensure continuous improvement in employee benefits administration.
- Support the management team to calibrate performance evaluations and remuneration reviews, ensuring alignment with annual merit increase guidelines.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and development support to the payroll and benefits team.
Other Tasks
- Oversee the company’s sustainability programs and ensure alignment with corporate environmental and social goals
- Organize and lead educational initiatives such as brown bag sessions, training programs, and webinars to enhance employee awareness and engagement
- Conduct regular audits and updates of organizational processes, work instructions, and procedural documentation
- Perform general administrative duties to support day-to-day operations
- Provide support to the People & Culture Head and team on various strategic and operational needs
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Finance or Business Administration.
- Proficient in Payroll Management Systems and HR Information Systems (HRIS), with preferred experience using SAP SuccessFactors.
- Solid understanding of labor relations and related workplace practices.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience specializing in compensation and benefits, including a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
Skillset
- Strong background in Payroll and Statutory benefits.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with intermediate to advanced expertise in MS Excel.
- Understanding of employment contracts, compensation structures, and the essential elements of Philippine labor laws.
- Skilled in leadership development and coaching, fostering growth and performance across teams and individuals
- Excellent communication skills, both in verbal and written setting.
- Facilitate and participate in meetings with customers and/or team members and management.
- Maintain the security of confidential information and documents.
- Demonstrate leadership through Canon knowledge and expertise.
