Job Description:
We are seeking a meticulous and focused Project Estimator to perform detailed takeoffs and estimations for commercial interior projects. Your accuracy and attention to detail will directly influence project costs, making this a key role in our client's construction and design operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately read and interpret architectural drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to extract relevant data for estimation, including dimensions, materials, and installation requirements.
- Perform comprehensive, itemized electronic takeoffs using Bluebeam or equivalent design software to quantify materials and labor needed for commercial interior projects, including floor plans, elevations, and detail drawings.
- Collaborate with project managers, designers, and other estimating personnel to validate the scope of work, confirm quantities, and ensure alignment between plans and client requirements.
- Identify missing information, inconsistencies, or unclear areas in drawings or specifications, and proactively seek clarification to avoid estimation errors or omissions.
- Maintain concentration and productivity on complex, large-scale projects that may require multiple days of sustained focus to complete accurate and comprehensive takeoffs.
- Quantify product-specific elements such as window treatments (e.g., blinds, shades) and office furniture layouts, considering product types, placement, and installation requirements where applicable.
- Verify all estimates for completeness and accuracy, recognizing that oversights or incorrect measurements may lead to significant cost impacts or margin erosion.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to accurately read and interpret architectural blueprints, construction drawings, and project specifications, extracting all necessary details for precise estimation.
- Previous professional experience in construction, architecture, or interior design environments, with a proven track record of contributing to successful project bids or cost estimations.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam for electronic takeoffs is strongly preferred. Experience with other design or drafting software such as AutoCAD or Illustrator is acceptable, with the ability to adapt quickly to new tools as needed.
- Familiarity with estimating window treatments (e.g., blinds, shades) and office furniture installations is a plus.
- Prior experience working with U.S.-based projects, clients, or construction standards is highly desirable.
- Exceptionally detail-oriented, with a meticulous approach to quantifying materials, identifying gaps in documentation, and double-checking work for accuracy.
- Strong analytical skills to identify inconsistencies or missing information in plans and propose solutions or seek clarification when required.
- Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across design, estimating, and project management teams, and to clearly document and explain estimation methods and findings.
- Proven ability to maintain focus and productivity during extended periods of complex estimating work, managing deadlines and multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
