- Ensure all construction activities comply with local, state, and federal safety regulations, as well as industry standards (OSHA, ANSI, etc.).
- Conduct thorough job hazard analyses and risk assessments to identify potential hazards on construction sites and recommend preventive measures.
- Perform regular safety audits and inspections of construction sites to ensure proper safety practices are being followed. Identify hazards like unsafe equipment, improper use of tools, or potential risks.
- Investigate workplace accidents or near-miss incidents on the construction site. Record findings, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Provide ongoing safety training for workers, supervisors, and contractors. Topics may include proper equipment usage, fall protection, hazard communication, PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), and emergency response procedures.
- Develop, implement, and monitor emergency response plans for construction site emergencies, including fires, medical emergencies, and evacuations.
- Ensure that all personnel are wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and using safety gear properly at all times on the site.
- Lead or participate in daily safety briefings, toolbox talks, and safety meetings to promote awareness and encourage open communication about safety concerns among workers.
- Maintain and update safety records, including training logs, accident reports, safety inspections, and compliance certifications. Report safety performance to management.
- Collaborate with construction managers and other stakeholders to create safety improvement plans and implement best practices on the job site.
- Ensure that all workplace injuries, accidents, and safety violations are reported and documented in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
Job Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Safety Officer in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of 0OSH regulations and construction safety standards.
- Ability to identify safety hazards, implement corrective actions, and promote safety awareness.
- Experience in conducting safety training sessions and preparing safety documentation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working with diverse teams on a job site.
- Certifications such BOSH, COSH, First Aid/CPR, and/or other relevant safety certifications.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
