A school Guidance Counselor helps students with their educational, career, and social-emotional development. They provide individual and group counseling, collaborate with teachers and parents, and assist students with academic planning, career exploration, and college applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Individual and Group Counseling:
Provide confidential support and guidance to students facing academic, social, or emotional challenges.
- Academic Planning:
Assist students in developing academic goals, selecting appropriate courses, and creating individual learning plans.
- Career Exploration and Planning:
Help students explore career options, develop job-seeking skills, and prepare for post-secondary education or the workforce.
- Collaboration with Parents and Teachers:
Work with families and school staff to support students' academic and social-emotional well-being.
- College and Career Readiness:
Provide guidance on college applications, financial aid, and post-secondary options.
- Crisis Intervention:
Respond to immediate needs and provide support during challenging situations.
- Assessment:
Use assessments to identify student strengths and areas for improvement, and to inform guidance plans.
- Data Collection and Analysis:
Collect and analyze data on student achievement, attendance, and other relevant factors to inform interventions and program development.
- Referrals:
Connect students and families with external resources and support services.
- Advocacy:
Advocate for students' needs within the school community.
- Professional Development:
Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
Supplemental Pay:
- 13th month salary
