Job Description
We are looking for an efficient, flexible, meticulous, and self-motivated mechanical engineer. As a member of the Current Product Engineering team, you will drive improvement to current XP Power products that will reduce cost, improve product manufacturability, test efficiency, and address field issues. You will identify, evaluate, develop, lead, validate, and implement design improvements for current products. You will also be involved in the New Product Development process; you will review new design concepts and provide feedback based on experience with products that are in production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support release of new designs from R&D to production.
- Work closely with the manufacturing team to incorporate DfX principles into existing and new designs.
- Engage with the sourcing team and suppliers to resolve pricing, delivery, and technical issues.
- Work with the RMA group in the evaluation of field failures, support root cause analysis activities, and implement corrective actions through design changes when required.
- Execute design changes while following XP Product Development Process from Design Requirements through Design Verification/Validation, Customer Acceptance, and Release to Production.
- Design and build product test fixtures for manufacturing use.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of related working experience. 10+ years of work experience preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with SolidWorks, Pro-E, Creo, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience with the development and validation of thermal simulation models to optimize product design.
- Experience with electronic packaging including 3D modelling of cable assemblies
- Experience with GD&T, DFMEA, thermal management principles, and stress analysis concepts.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and a strong sense of customer satisfaction.
- Ability to prioritize, manage time well, multitask and troubleshoot.
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic, detail oriented and deadline-driven environment.
