Job Overview:
We are looking for a detail-driven and culturally aware Simplified Chinese Proofreader with a strong passion for mobile games and anime. You will be responsible for reviewing and refining content to ensure linguistic accuracy, stylistic consistency, and cultural relevance for Simplified Chinese-speaking audiences. This role is ideal for someone who lives and breathes gaming and anime culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proofread and edit Simplified Chinese content, primarily related to mobile games and anime.
- Ensure the quality, clarity, and tone of localized materials from English to Simplified Chinese.
- Correct grammar, punctuation, terminology, and style inconsistencies.
- Adapt and localize cultural references, character dialogues, and in-game content to resonate with Chinese-speaking users.
- Collaborate with translators, editors, localization managers, and creative teams to maintain content standards.
- Handle various content types such as UI/UX strings, subtitles, marketing copy, game updates, character bios, and event descriptions.
Requirements:
- Native-level fluency in Simplified Chinese.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English.
- Proven experience as a proofreader or editor, especially in the entertainment, gaming, or media space.
- Strong familiarity with mobile games (RPGs, MOBAs, gacha games, or casual games).
- Regular anime viewer with a solid grasp of genre-specific tropes, dialogue styles, and fan culture.
- Exceptional attention to detail, grammar, and stylistic nuances.
- Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chinese, Translation, Linguistics, Journalism, or related fields.
- Experience in game localization or anime subtitling.
- Familiarity with CAT tools (e.g., Trados, MemoQ, Crowdin) is a plus.
- Understanding of regional language expectations for Mainland China audiences.
