Traditional Chinese Proofreader (Project-based)

Job Overview:

We are looking for a sharp and culturally attuned Traditional Chinese Proofreader with a passion for mobile games and anime. The ideal candidate will have a native-level command of Traditional Chinese and will review, edit, and polish translated or original content to ensure grammatical accuracy, cultural authenticity, and stylistic consistency—particularly in gaming and anime-related materials.

Key Responsibilities:

• Proofread and edit Traditional Chinese content with a focus on gaming and anime topics.
• Ensure accuracy, tone, and clarity in localization from English to Traditional Chinese.
• Identify and correct errors in grammar, punctuation, terminology, and cultural references.
• Collaborate closely with translators, editors, and localization managers to maintain quality standards.
• Localize idioms, jokes, and expressions in ways that resonate with Traditional Chinese-speaking gamers and anime fans.
• Work with a variety of content types, including UI/UX text, subtitles, character dialogue, game lore, patch notes, promotional materials, and fan-centric content.

Requirements:

• Native-level fluency in Traditional Chinese.
• Strong command of English, both written and spoken.
• Solid proofreading/editing experience, preferably in gaming or entertainment.
• Deep familiarity with mobile games (especially gacha, RPG, MOBA, or casual games).
• Actively watches anime series and understands fandom language, tropes, and genre nuances.
• Excellent attention to detail and consistency.
• Ability to meet deadlines and follow specific brand tone/style guides.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Communications, Translation, or a related field.
• Previous experience in game localization or entertainment media.
• Knowledge of CAT tools (e.g., MemoQ, SDL Trados) is a plus.
• Understanding of regional differences in Traditional Chinese (e.g., Taiwan vs. Hong Kong).
