The Stockman is responsible for the proper receiving, storage, issuance, and monitoring of all resort supplies, including food and beverage items, housekeeping materials, linens, and maintenance tools. Ensures accurate inventory control, safe handling, and timely issuance of supplies to support resort operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Receiving and Inspection
- Receive deliveries of food, beverages, housekeeping, engineering, and other resort supplies.
- Check quality, quantity, and condition of items against delivery receipts and purchase orders.
- Report shortages, damages, or expired/spoiled goods.
2. Storage and Organization
- Store stocks in designated storage areas (dry storage, cold storage, housekeeping supply room, maintenance stockroom).
- Ensure proper storage conditions for perishable goods (chiller, freezer).
- Arrange stocks systematically using First-In-First-Out (FIFO) and First-Expiry-First-Out (FEFO).
3. Issuance of Supplies
- Release supplies to requesting departments (kitchen, bar, housekeeping, engineering, front office) with approved requisition slips.
- Ensure proper documentation of all stock movements.
4. Inventory Management
- Conduct regular inventory counts (daily spot checks, weekly, and monthly).
- Monitor stock levels and report low or overstocked items.
- Maintain accurate stock cards, logbooks, or system entries.
5. Housekeeping & Safety
- Maintain cleanliness, orderliness, and sanitation in all storage areas.
- Handle goods carefully to avoid breakage, spoilage, or waste.
- Observe proper pest control and safety measures.
6. Reporting & Coordination
- Submit inventory reports to Purchasing and Accounting as required.
- Coordinate with department heads regarding special supply needs for events, functions, or high occupancy periods.
- Immediately report discrepancies, damages, or losses.
Qualifications:
- At least high school graduate; vocational/college level preferred.
- Prior experience as Stockman, Storekeeper, or related role in hotel/resort/restaurant is an advantage.
- Physically fit to handle lifting and moving of supplies.
- Knowledge of basic inventory procedures (FIFO, FEFO).
- Trustworthy, detail-oriented, and highly organized.
