Core Responsibilities
- Supervision:Vigilantly monitor swimming areas to prevent accidents and ensure all patrons adhere to safety rules.
- Emergency Response:Act as the first responder in emergencies, performing swift water rescues and administering first aid, CPR, and other life-saving care as needed.
- Rule Enforcement:Clearly explain and enforce the rules and regulations of the facility to ensure a safe environment.
- Facility Maintenance:Inspect equipment and the aquatic environment for potential hazards, ensuring it remains clean, safe, and well-maintained.
- Communication:Maintain effective communication with patrons to provide safety instructions and with other staff members to ensure a cohesive safety strategy.
Essential Skills & Qualities
- Strong Swimming Skills:Proficient in various rescue techniques, such as reaching, throwing, wading, and swimming rescues.
- First Aid & CPR:Current and valid certifications in First Aid and CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) are mandatory.
- Vigilance and Alertness:The ability to remain constantly aware of potential dangers and changing water or weather conditions.
- Decision-Making:Quick and sound judgment to assess situations and make appropriate decisions for patron safety.
- Good Communication:The ability to give clear instructions and warnings to swimmers and to communicate effectively with colleagues.
- Safety Consciousness:A strong commitment to safety and accident prevention.
