The Accounting Manager in a Philippine entity is pivotal in maintaining the financial integrity and stability of the organization. This role involves overseeing the daily accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and developing standards and processes for proper financial management. The Accounting Manager plays a crucial part in strategic planning and decisionmaking by providing insights into the organization's financial health as well as being compliant to audit and statutory requirements.
What will you do?
We know the work we do is vital in assisting Aurecon's business globally. Here are the key things you will do to ‘bring ideas to life’.
Managing Daily Accounting Activities:
- Responsible in ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions
- Overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, local tax, treasury functions
- Ensuring proper documentation and recordkeeping of all financial transactions.
Financial Reporting:
- Preparing and analyzing financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Ensuring that financial reports comply with Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS).
- Conducting monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reviews
Compliance:
- Ensuring all financial activities comply with local accounting standards and regulations, including Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) requirements
- Coordinating with external parties and auditors for annual audits and business permit renewals and ensuring compliance with audit recommendations
- Ensuring timely and accurate filing of tax returns and other regulatory requirements
Budget Management:
- Developing and managing the annual budget in collaboration with department heads.
- Monitoring budget performance and providing variance analysis to management.
- Forecasting financial performance and preparing budget adjustments as needed
Liaising with Auditors and Tax Advisors:
- Coordinating with external auditors for statutory audits and tax filings
- Ensuring timely and accurate filing of tax returns and other regulatory requirements
- Providing necessary documentation and information to auditors and tax advisors
Internal Controls:
- Implementing and monitoring internal controls to safeguard the company's assets
- Conducting regular reviews and updates of accounting policies and procedures
- Ensuring compliance with internal control standards and best practices
Training and Development:
- Mentoring and developing the accounting team to enhance their skills and performance.
- Conducting training sessions on new accounting standards and practices
- Providing ongoing support and guidance to team members
- Identifying training needs and opportunities for professional development
- Encouraging a culture of continuous improvement within the accounting department

You will also need the following:
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, CPA or MBA preferred
- 5+ years of progressive accounting, finance and taxation experience
- Has reporting and auditing background/experience
- Relevant Accounting qualification required and/or part way through studying CPA or CA qualification is an advantage
- Demonstrated ability to use initiative to resolve problems and issues, prioritise work to meet deadlines, and ability to drive team collaboration.
- Technical knowledge of financial systems and processes.
- Experience in a global Shared Services organization in a commercial environment is a definite advantage.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
