Qualifications:
- Must be a graduate of BS Nursing, Associate Degree in Nursing or equivalent.
- Preferably with BLS certification.
- At least 1 year work experience from a clinical setting.
- Possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good records management skills.
- Excellent observational skills.
- Must be computer proficient (MS Word, Excel, Email, internet navigation, office apps)
- Good knowledge in public safety and industrial health standards.
BASIC FUNCTIONS
Plays a crucial supportive role in workplace health and safety programs. Working under the supervision of an Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) or physician, the role focuses on promoting employee health, preventing illness or injury, and supporting compliance with occupational safety regulations.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assist in the administration of the Occupational Safety and Health Programs of the company on:
- Health and Wellness
- Drug-free Workplace
- No Smoking
- TB Prevention and Control
- Hepatitis B
- HIV/AIDS
- Mental Health
2. Provide basic first aid for minor workplace injuries within the scope of practice and consistent with clinical nursing guidelines.
3. Facilitate validation of medical and fit to work certificates.
4. Monitor employee/s with medical conditions and on prolonged sick leave. Conduct home visits as necessary.
5. Accompany employees to the ER for emergency cases and proper endorsement to hospital nurses.
6. Manage all cases to facilitate productivity, assuring appropriate care and return to work.
Assess healthcare needs and provide inputs regarding ergonomic improvements to improve health.
8. Maintain OSHA records/reports and employees’ medical files.
9. Monitor consumption and inventory of medicines to ensure adequate supplies. Facilitate
replenishment requests prior depletion of supplies.
10. Raise healthcare awareness of employees and make lifestyle recommendations to improve their health. Assist in the conduct of in-house health and safety training based on approved programs.
11. Screen Health Declaration Form of employees and company visitors and provide regular
reports on compliance.
12. Conduct routine temperature checks and rounds to ensure compliance with the standard health protocols being implemented.
13. Maintain logbook for employees’ illness, use of lactation room for lactating employees and medicines or consumables consumption.
14. Assist on the annual check-up activity of the company. Discuss results of those with significant findings and monitor compliance if it requires further consultation or laboratory examinations.
15. Conduct regular inspection of the work area for hazards and observe working conditions.
16. Other tasks that may be assigned by the immediate supervisor from time to time.
17. Comply with the organization’s information security and data privacy policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure the protection of sensitive data, safeguarding the confidentiality, integrity and availability of all information. This includes adhering to established protocols for securely handling, storing and transmitting data while ensuring compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
18. Attend mandatory annual information Security (InfoSec) and Data Privacy Act (DPA) awareness training to stay informed about the latest security practices and maintain compliance with relevant obligations.
