The Director of the Security and Safety Unit is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing comprehensive safety and security programs that uphold a safe and secure learning and working environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This position oversees campus security operations, emergency preparedness, crisis management, and compliance with relevant regulations. The Director collaborates with school leadership, local law enforcement, and emergency services to proactively prevent and respond to incidents, enhance safety awareness, and cultivate a secure, inclusive, and supportive campus community.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology, Public Safety, Security Management, or a related field
- Master’s Degree preferred but not required
- Safety Officer Accreditation Level 4
- Completion of BOSH and COSH certifications
- First Aid and/or Basic Life Support training
- At least 8–10 years of experience in security and safety management, preferably within an academic institution
- Strong knowledge of security systems, technologies, and emergency response protocols
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
- Proven ability to work effectively under pressure and make sound decisions in high-stress situations
- Familiarity with legal and regulatory standards related to security and safety
