Job description
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree
- Work experience as a Veterinarian, Veterinary Technician or Veterinarian Assistant
- Experience conducting various types of surgeries, vaccinations and health checks on animals
- Knowledge of medical equipment (e.g. X-ray machines) and anesthesia procedures
- Problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain medical terms and conditions using simple language
- Availability to take evening or weekend shifts in cases of emergency
- Can drive 4 wheel vehicle with valid driver's license
Job Description:
- Advises individual poultry raisers on poultry problems: Gathers from owner information on care, condition, performance, and action of birds.
- Diagnose, treat, or research diseases and injuries of animals. Includes veterinarians who conduct research and development, inspect livestock, or care for pets and companion animals.
- Inspects flocks, pens, and housing.
- Culls undesirable birds from flock.
- Suggests feed changes to increase egg production or growth of fowls.
- Prescribe medications, administer inoculations to treat animal health condition
- Visit farms or pet houses to assess the living condition of animals and make necessary recommendations for improved health
- Inspect animal food products to ensure they are fit for human consumption
- Guide and direct the activities of veterinarian assistants and technicians
