I. Basic Purpose of the Job
- The Machine Shop Supervisor is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Central Shop, ensuring timely and precise fabrication of parts and components. This role upholds strict standards of safety, quality, productivity, and cost while coordinating resources and guiding the team toward operational excellence.
II. Reporting Relationship
- Reports directly to the Assembly Central Shop, Cost & Engineering Excellence Manager.
III. Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Enforce and uphold safety standards and procedures to ensure a secure and compliant work environment.
- Oversee the setup, operation, and routine maintenance of CNC machines, Wirecut machines, EDMs, grinders, milling machines, lathes, and welding equipment.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to guide machining operations with precision.
- Monitor production workflows to ensure product accuracy, quality compliance, and adherence to timelines.
- Manage inventory levels of tools, raw materials, and spare parts to support uninterrupted production.
- Diagnose and resolve machining challenges and equipment malfunctions to minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with engineering and cross-functional teams to enhance machining processes and drive operational efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records including production reports, equipment maintenance logs, and employee training documentation.
- Facilitate skill development and training programs for machinists and apprentices to build technical capabilities.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as Kaizen, TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), and Lean Six Sigma (LSS) to foster a culture of excellence.
- Lead, supervise, and coordinate the daily activities of machinists and shop personnel to meet production goals.

IV. Job Specifications
• Education
o BS Degree in Mechanical or equivalent
• Experience
o At least 10 years of experience in machining, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Skills and Knowledge
o Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Machine Shop Operation: Proven hands-on experience in setting up and operating diverse machine shop equipment, including CNC machines (Tsugami VA2/VA3), EDM systems (Oscarmax Wirecut, Super Drill, Die Sinker), lathes (Hardinge HLVH), grinders (HyFair, Chevalier FSG-1224ADIV), band saws (DoAll DBW-15), and welding tools.
o Strong understanding of machining principles, material behavior, and industry best practices, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve equipment and process-related issues efficiently.
o Technical Interpretation: Skilled in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications using CAD and SolidWorks for accurate execution of machining tasks.
o Precision Measurement: Proficient in instrumentation and metrology, utilizing both basic and advanced tools—including Quick Vision systems—for high-accuracy inspection and quality control.
o Tool & Die Fabrication: Demonstrated ability to design, fabricate, and optimize tooling and die components to improve precision, performance, and production outcomes.
o Digital Literacy: Basic computer proficiency for maintaining documentation, generating reports, and supporting digital workflows.
o Safety & Compliance: Well-versed in workplace safety protocols, regulatory standards & quality assurance methodologies to ensure operational safety & compliance.
o Leadership & Communication: Effective team leader with the ability to supervise and motivate shop personnel, manage tasks to meet production deadlines, and communicate clearly across departments.
