Position Summary
- We are seeking a Commercial Analyst with strong commercial acumen and experience in pricing and solution design. This role supports Sales, Account Management, and Leadership teams by delivering insights, pricing strategies, and reporting solutions. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and solution-driven, with a passion for delivering commercially viable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate cost estimate reports using carrier rates and consignment data for both new and existing customers.
- Deliver cyclical customer reports on freight spend and performance, with insights and commentary on key metrics.
- Support commercial negotiations with freight carriers, including rate requests and adjustments.
- Run data queries and scripts, and update datasets to maintain accurate information.
- Maintain costing attributes in databases, such as fuel surcharges and ancillary fees.
- Design custom freight solutions aligned with customer expectations and operational capabilities.
- Ensure accuracy of master data in systems (rates, fuel surcharge, carrier fees).
- Assist with customer system integrations and provide system support.
- Oversee accounts functions including receivables, invoice generation, reconciliation, and accuracy checks.
- Drive customer margin performance and identify pricing or uplift opportunities.
- Lead monthly internal and external reporting processes.
- Contribute to strategic pricing for new or existing business to meet gross margin goals.
- Support margin improvement initiatives and broader commercial activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, or a related field (required).
Experience
- Minimum 3+ years in a Commercial, Pricing, or Business Analyst role.
- Experience in logistics, freight, or supply chain is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to interpret and manipulate large datasets.
- Exposure to commercial or finance functions (e.g., costing, margin analysis).
- Experience working in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.
Skills and Tools
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and Access.
- SQL (for data querying and reporting).
- Business Intelligence tools (Power BI preferred).
- Strong commercial mindset and solution design skills.
- Knowledge of freight industry pricing models is a strong advantage.
