Primary Duties & Responsibilities
1. Production Planning & Execution
- Oversee daily production activities across polishing, greening, coating, and inspection processes to meet output targets.
- Develop production schedules in coordination with Supply Chain, Engineering, and Quality teams.
- Ensure optimal resource allocation (manpower, materials, and equipment) to meet deadlines.
- Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as yield, cycle time, OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), and throughput.
2. Process & Quality Optimization
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen principles.
- Work closely with Process Engineers to refine polishing, coating, and lens fabrication techniques for higher precision and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ITAR, and internal quality standards.
- Collaborate with Quality Control (QC) teams to address defect reduction, first-pass yield improvement, and corrective actions.
3. Equipment & Technology Management
- Ensure proper utilization and maintenance of CNC machines, polishing equipment, vacuum deposition (coating) systems, interferometers, CM100, and laser inspection tools.
- Work with the Equipment Engineering team to minimize machine downtime and improve reliability.
- Identify technology upgrades to enhance production capacity and product quality.
4. Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and mentor Production Supervisors, Machine Operators, and Technicians to enhance performance.
- Conduct training programs for operators on new manufacturing techniques, safety procedures, and quality standards.
- Foster a culture of accountability, efficiency, and teamwork.
- Ensure proper shift planning and workload balancing to optimize production efficiency.
5. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all production activities comply with workplace safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Enforce PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) policies, safety audits, and risk assessments.
- Drive a zero-incident work culture through regular safety training and process reviews.
Education, Experience & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in production management within an optical, semiconductor, or precision manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of optical fabrication, vacuum coating, polishing, and metrology processes.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) methodologies.
- Proficiency in MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems), ERP software, and production planning tools.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in ZnSe or Silicon lens manufacturing.
- Knowledge of PLC-based automation and process control systems.
- Certification in Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt).
Working Conditions
- This role is 100% onsite / hybrid / remote
- Manufacturing floor and office-based role with hands-on oversight of production activities.
- Exposure to high-precision optical fabrication equipment, vacuum chambers, and metrology tools.
- Requires flexibility in work hours to accommodate production needs
