As a Revenue Accountant, you will play a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely recognition, reconciliation, and reporting of revenue. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, customer support, data, and engineering, to ensure revenue transactions are properly recorded, discrepancies are resolved, and our financial systems are in sync.
This position requires a deep understanding of revenue accounting principles (ASC 606) and high-volume transaction processing. Experience using Leapfin or another order-to-cash tool is a plus.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Revenue Recognition & Accounting
- Perform revenue recognition and deferral entries in accordance with ASC 606 including preparation of monthly shipment summary for revenue recognition
- Analyze and reconcile sales data in Leapfin, ensuring revenue completeness and accuracy in NetSuite.
- Maintain and update deferred revenue schedules and perform month-end reconciliations.
- Review order-to-cash data for proper treatment and allocation of product revenue, discounts, returns, and taxes.
System Oversight & Reconciliation
- Serve as the accounting lead for the Leapfin platform and routinely review accurate rule setup and revenue mappings, resolve discrepancies, and ensure end-to-end integrity across systems.
- Reconcile data in Leapfin with upstream order systems (e.g., Stripe) to ensure transaction completeness and identify variances.
- Assist with continuous process improvement efforts around automation, reporting, and internal controls.
Month-End Close & Reporting
- Prepare journal entries related to revenue, contra-revenue, and deferred revenue as part of the monthly close process.
- Support financial reporting through account reconciliations, variance analysis, and revenue reporting.
- Partner with FP&A and senior accounting leadership to provide insight into monthly and quarterly revenue trends.
Audit Support & Compliance
- Maintain appropriate documentation for revenue recognition processes.
- Support external financial audits by preparing audit schedules and responding to auditor inquiries related to revenue.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of revenue-related policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree in Accounting, Business or Finance
- 3-5 years of experience in an accounting or finance role
- Experience with revenue accounting, preferably in a high-growth startup, consumer technology, or e-commerce environment.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Highly motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving business environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
