Responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment. This role requires a med-allied graduate who can assist in the management of medical supplies, ensure proper sanitation, and support laboratory operations. The custodian ensures that all pharmacy laboratory equipment is properly cleaned, maintained, and functional, while adhering to safety and health regulations. This position is crucial for the smooth functioning of the laboratory and its compliance with standards and protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Laboratory Cleaning & Sanitation: Maintain the cleanliness of pharmacy laboratory surfaces, workstations, equipment, and storage areas. Ensure sanitation of high-touch surfaces and pharmaceutical workspaces.
- Inventory Management: Oversee the organization, storage, and maintenance of pharmacy supplies, including pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and lab materials. Assist in monitoring stock levels and report shortages to the pharmacy team.
- Equipment Maintenance: Clean and properly maintain pharmacy laboratory equipment and tools, ensuring they are in proper working order. Report any malfunctioning equipment to the department supervisor.
- Waste Disposal: Handle the disposal of pharmaceutical waste, hazardous materials, and other lab waste according to safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety and health guidelines for working with pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and laboratory materials. Ensure proper handling of dangerous substances and follow emergency procedures when necessary.
- Support Pharmacy Operations: Assist pharmacists and laboratory personnel with routine laboratory tasks, preparation of materials, and any necessary support to ensure operational efficiency.
- Stocking & Organization: Restock pharmacy supplies and materials in designated areas to maintain organization and ensure that essential items are readily available.
- Documentation & Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of cleaning schedules, inventory levels, and equipment status. Ensure documentation complies with pharmacy department protocols.
- Health and Safety Standards: Monitor and ensure that all workspaces meet the required hygiene and safety standards, particularly in compliance with local health regulations.
Qualifications:
- Must be a graduate of any Medical Allied degree.
- Knowledge of laboratory protocols and safety regulations.
- Familiarity with laboratory and pharmaceutical equipment.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and cleanliness.
- Ability to manage inventory and handle pharmaceutical materials safely.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well with a team.
- Knowledge of health and safety procedures in a pharmacy or laboratory environment.
- Physical capability to perform cleaning, organization, and light lifting tasks as required.
