Job Title: Shopify Specialist
Type: Remote (US EST hours)
Reports to: CFO
Job Overview
We’re seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Shopify Specialist to own the full lifecycle of Shopify sales revenue, payouts, and reconciliations within Microsoft Business Central. You’ll work closely with Jacob & Co.’s accounting team to streamline recordkeeping, reduce manual effort, and ensure clean month-end closes.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate allocation of revenue based on Shopify transactions.
- Shopify Sales Revenue Accounting
- Record customer Orders, Credit Memos, and Refunds from Shopify into Microsoft Business Central (BC).
- Post incoming payouts (Klarna, PayPal, Shopify Payments) against BC.
- Shopify Payouts Processing & Automation
- Develop and implement automation to reduce manual processing.
- Revenue Reconciliation & Reporting
- Perform BC ↔ Shopify reconciliation to verify complete and accurate revenue at month-end.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- AR & Cash Reconciliation
- Reconcile BC ledger with PayPal and Klarna monthly statements.
- Ensure cash receipts match bank statement postings and general ledger.
- Assist with sales tax filing via Avalara: verify transactional tags, amounts, and filing accuracy.
- Identify patterns and inefficiencies; propose and execute process improvements or tool integrations.
- Collaborate with the accounting team and developers to optimize workflows and minimize errors.
Job Requirements:
- 3+ years of professional accounting experience, preferably with e-commerce platforms (Shopify).
- Experience using Microsoft Business Central (or similar ERP systems).
- Familiarity with payment gateways (Klarna, PayPal, Shopify Payments).
- Strong understanding of accounts receivable, revenue recognition, and month-end reconciliation.
- Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong Excel (pivot tables, lookups, basic macros) and proficient written/internal communication skills.
- Highly organized and able to manage deadlines in a remote, fast-paced environment.
